Emergency rooms are usually not the fastest or most cost effective choice when in need of immediate health care, and often it takes days to get in to see a primary care physician or specialist. It is not uncommon to wait hours in the Emergency Room for lesser non-emergency health concerns that will likely be billed at ER rates.
